a little story, Pt. 2

And for awhile the mother found a happiness and contentment that she had not experienced since she herself was a child, a kind of joy she had forgotten it was possible to even feel. It was like everything fitted, she was where she was meant to be she knew what it was that she had to do. And her baby son was happy too - he was a curious child, keen to look at all the world unfolding anew around him. He giggled sweetly at the cats playing in the garden and the birds flying high in the sky, and he stared softly and with infinite trust into his mother's eyes. He only ever cried when he couldn't see her, the one who had given him, unasked, access to this strange delightful place that so beguiled his naive and dizzy mind.
